Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) is a prominent Taiwan-based technology research and development organization established in 1973. It serves a broad range of clients through contract research, product and process development, pilot runs for technological upgrades, IP strategy and licensing, industrial analysis, talent training, and open-lab incubation for new ventures. The institute focuses on information and communications; electronics and optoelectronics; materials chemistry and nanotechnology; medical devices and biomedical; mechanical and systems; and green energy and environment. Its headquarters are in Hsinchu, with additional offices in Silicon Valley, Tokyo, Berlin, and Eindhoven to extend its international reach. ITRI has played a significant role in Taiwan's shift toward technology-based operations and has incubated more than 240 innovative companies, including UMC and TSMC, while cultivating numerous leaders in hi-tech business. In June 2026, it announced the Green UAS accreditation program in Taiwan, signing a service agreement with AUVSI to support certification and facilitate access to the U.S. market.
