1st Farm Credit Services, based in Normal, Illinois, is the largest agricultural lender in Illinois. It serves farmers and those who invest in rural America across the northern 42 counties with agricultural credit and financial services. As a member of the Farm Credit System, it is part of a nationwide network that provides credit and other services to farmers and rural operations, collectively supplying more than one-third of the nation's agricultural credit.

The association is owned by more than 10,300 client-owners and governed by a 17-member board, with 14 directors elected by client-owners and three appointed by the board. Unlike traditional banks, it does not accept deposits; funding is raised by issuing system-wide bonds on Wall Street, and earnings are distributed through Farm Credit banks and associations to agricultural producers and cooperatives.
