3D Realms originated in 1994 as a division of Apogee, created to develop innovative 3D action games and contribute to a notable lineage of PC titles. Its early releases included Terminal Velocity (1995) and Duke Nukem 3D (1996), helping establish the company within the fast-paced, immersive shooter space. In recent years, the studio has focused on reviving classic shooter franchises through remasters and reimaginings, collaborating with partner studios to bring updated experiences to modern platforms.
