826 MSP is a non-profit youth writing center with a mission to to amplify the voices, stories, and power of K-12 BIPOC students through writing, publishing, and leadership programs. 826 MSP offers a range of free programs for students, classrooms, and schools throughout the Twin Cities Metro Area including after-school homework help, bookmaking and storytelling field trips, creative writing workshops, in-school tutoring partnerships, and the Young Authors' Book Project. We target partnerships with schools where fifty percent or more of the student population receives free or reduced price lunch. We focus on project-based learning where so that students can see and share the stories they have created. 826 MSP operates as a third space – outside of school and home – where students can dive deep into their stories and studies while working shoulder-to-shoulder with volunteers. We believe writing is both fun and necessary to academic, personal, and professional growth. We work with students to find, shape, and expand their own unique voice while fostering critical skills and confidence. 826 MSP is a chapter of the 826 national network of youth writing centers.
