9/11 Day is the nonprofit that established the federally recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance – now the largest annual day of service in the U.S. Our mission is to inspire millions of Americans to rekindle the spirit of unity and compassion that emerged after 9/11, and to perform good deeds and other acts of service as a lasting tribute to the many who were killed, injured, or sickened, and the first responders, recovery workers, volunteers, and members of our military who rose in service in the days that followed. In 2026, our goals include inspiring more than 50 million Americans to participate in 9/11 Day; generating up to 25,000 grassroots service projects; documenting 25 million hours of service; teaching 100 million young people about the importance of coming together; distributing more than $1 million in grants to colleges, universities, and educational organizations; and packing 20 million meals for people facing food insecurity in America.
