AAPA, short for Asian American Professional Association, is a California-based nonprofit organization that advances Asian American professionals into leadership roles through training, networking, and collaboration. Founded in 1999 and based in Los Angeles, it operates as a mid-sized nonprofit focused on developing professionals for corporate and community leadership. Its signature Mentorship Program has mentored over 1,300 individuals, with about 70% of mentees achieving promotions after completing the program. Mentors also benefit, being six times more likely to be promoted and 20% more likely to receive a raise. Beyond mentoring, AAPA runs a Board Leadership Program to prepare leaders for nonprofit boards and hosts a Toastmasters Chapter that supports minority professionals in developing their workplace voices. In response to the pandemic, the organization adapted by offering community-informed workshops and support to its members.
