The Academy of American Poets is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering appreciation for contemporary poetry and supporting American poets. Headquartered in New York City, New York, it counts members across the United States and beyond and engages a broad audience through its programs. It runs Poets.org, the world's largest publicly funded website for poets and poetry, and originated National Poetry Month.
