The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) accredits a broad spectrum of outpatient health care facilities, including ambulatory surgery centers, office-based surgery facilities, and endoscopy centers, with more than 6,800 organizations accredited. It develops nationally recognized standards to promote high-quality care and uses a peer-led onsite survey process that results in the Certificate of Accreditation, along with specialized programs such as Advanced Orthopaedic Certification and Patient-Centered Medical Home Certification. Founded in 1979 and based in Deerfield, Illinois, AAAHC operates within the Hospitals and Health Care industry and serves a wide range of outpatient providers. Its accreditation and certification programs are recognized by third-party payors, medical associations, liability insurers, state and federal agencies, and the public. In August 2025, AAAHC announced the release of v44 Standards, the latest update to its accreditation and certification handbooks.
