In the early 1980s, Frederic B. Kremer, MD, developed the first ultrasound pachymeter to measure corneal thickness for the radial keratotomy (RK) market.  Dr. Kremer patented his pachymeter and founded Accutome, Inc. (Malvern, PA). In 1991, Brian Chandler, a retired naval officer with over 20 years of service, was appointed president of the company.

Accutome is now entering our fourth decade in the ophthalmic industry.  The three major traits that keep the Accutome brand growing remain the same: Superior Customer Service, Quality, Innovation.  It is our goal to make each and every experience a special one.

In April 2012, Accutome was acquired by Halma, joining its Health Optics division and other ophthalmic companies Keeler and Volk. Accutome’s recently unveiled e-commerce website, www.accutome.com, is designed for fast ordering and improved account management.  When a customer calls Accutome, he or she speaks with a person, not an automated message, and calls are answered during extended working hours.  If Accutome does not make a product, sell it, or repair it, the customer is directed to a qualified source.
