The Achievement School District is a state-operated program in Tennessee focused on turning around persistently underperforming schools. It targets Priority Schools—the bottom five percent in the state—and provides the strategies, resources, and support needed to implement intervention plans. These plans are executed by carefully selected school operators under ASD's oversight, with the objective of restoring these schools to their local education agencies. Based in Memphis, Tennessee, the district collaborates with several charter networks to operate its Priority Schools, including Aspire Public Schools, Cornerstone Prep, Green Dot Public Schools, KIPP Memphis, LEAD Public Schools, Project GRAD, USA, and Rocketship Education. In addition to school operations, ASD has engaged in collaborations such as a partnership with Meharry Medical College to administer COVID-19 vaccines to teachers and staff, illustrating its cooperative approach.
