Active-Soles aims to prevent pain, fatigue, and injury by improving patients biomechanics with custom orthotics and footwear. Our process for creating a custom orthotics begins with an appointment focused on assessment of gait pattern. I take 2 measurements, a scan of the foot using a 2D scanner and a dynamic gait map using a high sensitivity pressure pad which tracks your gait line and areas of pressure. Both digital images are used in the design of your orthotic. The scan is used to match the contours of the foot and the gait map is used to correct the gait pattern. The key difference in my manufacturing process is using a objective measurement of the dynamic gait to digitally design the orthotic, taking away subjective clinical error. Most orthotic manufactures create an orthotic from a non-weight bearing mold of the foot in a static position and use a carbon fiber base to lock the foot into position. The problem with this manufacturing method is the foot has 3 primary functions- 1. propel the body forward 2. support the weight of the body 3. adjust to the ground and absorb force. A rigid orthotic is only effective on 1 of these 3 functions. I used a variety of semi rigid EVA materials to meet all 3 needs of the foots function. At Active-Soles we think orthotics should be affordable for everyone. We use the lastest technology in CAD design and 2D CAM milling to manufacture high quality custom orthotics quickly and efficiently so I can offer a affordable price to our patients. www.active-soles.com
