The non-profit Active Transportation Alliance advocates for walking, bicycling and public transit to creat healthy, sustainable, equitable communities.

Under the banner of the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation, the organization worked for nearly 25 years to secure huge wins for bicycling. In November 2008, the organization expanded its mission to include pedestrian and transit advocacy in its work and, as a result, changed its name to the Active Transportation Alliance 

The Active Transportation Alliance is North America’s largest bicycling and pedestrian advocacy organization.

In the next 20 years, we will build a movement. As part of our 20-Year Vision, we are working to create a region with a 50 percent reduction in all crashes and where 50 percent of the population walks, bikes and takes mass transit.
