Active Transportation Alliance is a nonprofit organization based in Chicago, Illinois, dedicated to advancing walking, bicycling, and public transit to foster healthier, more sustainable, and more equitable communities. It is described as North America’s largest advocacy group for bicycling and pedestrians, focusing on policy and practical changes to broaden safe mobility. The organization began as the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation and expanded its mission in 2008 to include pedestrian and transit advocacy, adopting its current name. Its 20-Year Vision envisions a region where half the population walks, bikes, or uses mass transit and crashes are reduced by half. In 2026 it launched Technical Assistance for walking and biking improvements in partnership with Cook County Department of Public Health.
