From 1992 to 1999, Advanced Restoration Technologies (ART) functioned primarily as a surgical hair restoration clinic, with Dr. Geno Marcovici serving as Director of Clinical Research. During this period, several IRB-monitored trials were undertaken on-site contributing to the development of wound healing methodology now in widespread medical use worldwide (e.g., Procyte’s copper based tirpeptide product Tricomin™ & Organogenesis’ epithelial barrier function agonist Apligraf™). From 2000 to present, ART limited its research focus solely to the creation of safe and empirically tested hair loss treatment formulations. ART Inc. also serves as the parent company to HairGenesis®. HairGenesis®, comprising a novel hair growth regimen incorporating both oral and topical delivery systems, was first advanced by Marcovici in 1995 as an alternative to conventional pharmacotherapy. As of 2009, HairGenesis, now in its fourth generation, constitutes the first true ‘dual-mechanism’ hair loss product. Additionally, HairGenesis® represents the sole example in the nutraceutical category substantiated by critically-reviewed university-based and placebo-controlled, double-blind clinical research.
