Advent Bioservices is a biotechnology research company that began as a cell therapy contract development and manufacturing organization in 2016. It is constructing a multiproduct GMP production facility outside Sawston, Cambridgeshire, intended to scale current commercial production and expand contract manufacturing services to meet demand in the UK. The Sawston site sits seven miles from Cambridge city centre, with strong transport links to Central London and London Stansted, and four miles from the M11 corridor toward the Midlands. The facility will house GMP laboratories, process development areas, two GMP suites with grade B/C classified areas, in-house QC testing, office space, and a cryogenic storage unit, with capacity for future expansion. It will operate under an integrated IT framework, including eQMS, eBMR, LIMS, and paperless systems, and will provide validated cleanrooms, environmental monitoring, training, ancillary services, and technical support for process development and validation, with cryogenic storage available to external clients as off-site storage and disaster recovery aligned with HTA requirements. In October 2025, Northwest Biotherapeutics completed its acquisition of Advent BioServices Ltd., after which Advent became a wholly owned subsidiary of Northwest Biotherapeutics.
