Adventure Risk Challenge is a small nonprofit based in Truckee, California, operating in the primary and secondary education sector. The organization provides a year-round program that supports low-income and English-learner high school students through literacy and leadership activities that blend academic development with immersive outdoor experiences. This combination seeks to build the self-confidence and practical skills students need to complete high school, pursue higher education, and engage as citizens. Since its founding in 2004, ARC has offered a mix of 40-day courses, weekend wilderness retreats, college prep workshops, tutoring, and community service. Its outcomes include 99% of alumni graduating on time from high school and 81% going on to attend college. In 2019 the organization launched an academic-year program called the ARC Community Leadership Program.
