Aegis Trust is a mid-sized organization focused on preventing mass atrocities and promoting peaceful societies through both community-level work and global programs. Its approach draws on the experience of Rwanda after the 1994 genocide, emphasizing leadership development—especially for youth—and education as a means to counter fear and hatred. Locally, the organization runs practical interventions in at-risk countries, building capacity among local leaders and using schools, churches, events, and media to foster dialogue and peace, while also engaging in targeted advocacy. Globally, Aegis leads in peace promotion through research, education, and leadership initiatives aimed at intergenerational and systemic change. It supports youth-led peace movements, advises senior government officials in several countries, and collaborates with academic institutions to integrate peace education across disciplines. The organization is based in Newark, Nottinghamshire, and in 2025 appointed Alice Wairimu Nderitu as Global President of the Isōko Centre for Humanity, marking a notable advancement aligned with its mission.
