شرکت افرانت در سال 1376 با هدف توسعه اينترنت و تجارت الکترونيکی در کشور تاسيس گرديد. افرانت اولین شرکت تامین کننده اینترنت خصوصی کشور با استفاده از ماهواره و همچنین اولين شرکت اينترنتی کشور است که موفق به دريافت گواهینامه ISO 9001-2008 از TUV Nord آلمان و نیز گواهینامه امنیت اطلاعات ISMS (ISO: 27001) از شرکت IMQ ایتالیا گرديده است. این شرکت همچنین مطابق آیین نامه تشخیص صلاحیت و طبقهبندی شرکتهای انفورماتیکی، دارای گواهی رتبه یک در چهار حوزه تخصصی میباشد.
شرکت افرانت در سال 94 موفق به اخذ پروانه ایجاد و بهرهداری از شبکه ارتباطات ثابت (FCP) گردیده است. 
با توجه به تصمیمات استراتژیک افرانت در سالهای گذشته، تمرکز اصلی شرکت بر ارائه خدمات ارتباطی و دیتاسنتر و تکمیل زنجیره ارزش خدمات فناوری اطلاعات و ارتباطات بوده است. افرانت پنج پلتفرم رشد در دستور کار دارد که هر کدام بخشی از این زنجیره را تکمیل میکنند:
