AIA Kentucky, also known as the Kentucky Society of Architects, is a non-profit professional association representing the interests of and providing services to over 600 Kentucky architects, architectural interns and allied professionals. Over one hundred years ago, the American Institute of Architects chartered its first Kentucky chapter at the request of a group of Louisville architects. First called the Louisville Chapter and then the Kentucky Chapter, the AIA’s presence in Kentucky has expanded to represent architects throughout the state. AIA Kentucky, as the state chapter, focuses on government advocacy, communications, professional education and public outreach. Three local chapters based in Louisville, Lexington and Northern Kentucky provide localized programs and initiatives, many of which are focused on enhancing the communities where AIA members live and work. The American Institute of Architects has grown into a robust, focused organization providing guidance, service, and standards to architects around the world. The AIA continues to strive for quality, consistency, sustainability and safety in the built environment and to serve as the voice of the architecture profession.
