AIGA Los Angeles is the Los Angeles chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design, operating in the design services field. It positions itself as a civic leader in the local design scene, celebrating regional design, and fostering partnerships with cultural and media organizations as well as educational institutions. Through programs, events, communications, and social outreach, it connects diverse creative communities across the city. Founded in 1983 by Deborah Sussman, Saul Bass, Jim Cross, and others, the Los Angeles chapter carries forward AIGA’s broader mission to advance design as a discipline, business tool, and cultural force. It serves design professionals in the area by providing a platform for idea exchange, critical discussion, and education focused on ethical practice. In late 2025, the organization’s network was recognized with a Signal Award in the Artists + Designers Shaping Culture category, highlighting ongoing activity around design-focused initiatives such as its podcast.
