The Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) is a nonprofit, international technical organization serving iron and steel producers, their allied suppliers, and related academia, with a mission to advance the technical development, production, processing, and application of iron and steel. Based in Warrendale, Pennsylvania, it was formed in 2004 from the merger of the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers (1907) and the Iron & Steel Society (1974). The organization draws a global membership of more than 19,000 individuals from over 70 countries, with a distribution that includes suppliers, producers, students, and academia. AIST facilitates professional activities such as meetings, conferences, exhibits, and publications to support the iron and steel community. Its flagship international conference, AISTech, comprises more than 500 technical presentations, over 600 exhibiting companies, and about 8,000 to 10,000 attendees. The event connects steel manufacturers, suppliers, researchers, and educators from around the world to foster collaboration in a changing global market.
