Akenerji is a Turkish electric power company that operates as an integrated energy player, combining generation with wholesale energy trading. Headquartered in Istanbul, it traces its roots to Turkey's early private power generation and has operated as an equal-partner joint venture between Akkök and the Czech ČEZ Group since 2008. Since 2005, the company has shifted focus toward renewable generation to diversify its resource mix, building a renewable portfolio of 388 MW from hydro and wind and a total installed capacity of 1,224 MW. The Erzin natural gas combined-cycle plant began operation in 2014 and can meet about 1.5% of Turkey's electricity demand, while Akenerji's wholesale activities aim to optimize asset use and inject liquidity into the retail market by monetizing its own generation and that of other producers. In 2016 the company adopted Trayport's GlobalVision Trading Gateway to support trading in the Turkish power market.
