The Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort, located in Al Ain within the Abu Dhabi region, operates as a wildlife-oriented destination that combines leisure, learning, and conservation in a desert setting. It builds on the roughly forty-year heritage of the Al Ain Zoo and reflects the emirate’s cultural values, aiming to connect visitors with wildlife stewardship. The development is planned in phases to transform the core zoo into a site featuring desert habitats from Africa, Arabia, and Asia, alongside luxury resort accommodations and themed retail. Conservation and education are core principles, supported by partnerships with the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, San Diego Zoo, the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and the World Wide Fund for Nature. The initiative participates in global conservation efforts, including reintroduction programs for species such as the Arabian Oryx and Houbara Bustard. The project spans about 900 hectares, with Phase One including the African Safari and the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Center and planned completion dates of December 2010 for Phase One and December 2013 for Phase Three; recent public programming has included camps and events in 2022–2023, such as winter and summer camps and collaborations like a pink run.
