The Alabama League of Municipalities is a nonpartisan membership group that brings together more than 450 cities and towns across Alabama. It acts as the primary lobbying voice for municipalities, representing them before the state legislature, in Congress, and with federal and state agencies. The league offers services to municipal leaders, including training, conferences, and public outreach about how city government operates. It is headquartered in Montgomery and was founded in 1935. Its governance combines an executive director with a board of directors, including representation from seven congressional districts and an executive committee of past presidents, supported by seven standing committees that develop and implement policy. In May 2026, the organization elected Rusty Jessup, mayor of Riverside, as president and Jason Reeves, mayor of Troy, as vice president at its annual convention.
