The Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) operates in the field of education administration. It directly educates and supports students at six school sites, including those who are justice-involved, expelled, pregnant and parenting, foster or homeless, and infants with special needs, as well as other students not served by traditional schools. Across 18 school districts, ACOE provides support to more than 215,000 students and 12,000 teachers, guided by a student-centered vision and the goal of safe, supportive community schools. Based in Hayward, California, the organization is part of the education administration programs sector and is supported by a workforce of a few hundred staff. In March 2026, LightBox Collaborative formed a partnership with ACOE and the Alameda County Early Childhood Education Planning Council to help close enrollment gaps and streamline access for families.
