Alamo Navajo Community School, based in Alamo, New Mexico, operates a K-12 education system as part of an education administration program. The school opened in 1979 as a K-8 in four portable buildings and expanded to a full K-12 offering by 1980, adding trailers to accommodate more students. In 1982, planning and construction produced a permanent 54,000-square-foot facility with classrooms, labs, a library/media center, a gym, a cafeteria, an agriculture/greenhouse lab, and workshops for industrial arts. The Alamo Navajo School Board, Inc. currently oversees the K-12 schools as well as related community services. Through the same board, the organization operates an Indian Health Clinic, an Early Childhood Center, an Adult Education Program, a Roads Department, a Technology Department, and a Wellness Center. These programs illustrate a broad education administration role that serves students and the wider community in its region.
