The Alaska Department of Natural Resources is a state government agency that manages all state-owned land, water, and natural resources on behalf of the people of Alaska, excluding fish and game. It oversees roughly 60 million acres of tidelands, shorelands, and submerged lands, along with 40,000 miles of coastline, and it administers the freshwater resources that account for about 40 percent of the nation's total freshwater flow.
