Albany Barn, Inc. is a small nonprofit based in Albany, New York, aimed at revitalizing the Arbor Hill neighborhood by repurposing St. Joseph's Academy into a mixed-use arts complex. In partnership with the Albany Housing Authority, the project provides 22 low-cost live/work artist residences and more than 13,000 square feet of multi-tenant space for creative enterprises and programs, branded as The Barn. The Barn houses a 148-seat performance venue, a musicians' rehearsal room, a community crafters' studio, meeting and event spaces, a full-service recording studio, a multimedia production studio, and spaces for photography, design, and fine arts startups; Stage 1 Gallery on N. Swan Street offers storefront exhibitions and youth programming, fitness classes, events, and monthly visual art shows.
The organization operates within the nonprofit arts and community development sector, providing affordable housing and shared facilities to support artists and arts-driven startups while contributing to neighborhood renewal. Based in Albany, it has engaged in regional arts activity, including participation in MEDLEY 2026 and recognition as a Premier Beneficiary for the 2025 Wine & Dine for the Arts.
