Alexandria University is a major public research institution located in Alexandria, Egypt. Its origins trace back to 1938, when two faculties formed within Fouad I University, and it became a separate entity in 1942, adopting the Alexandria University name in 1952 as it added faculties in science, commerce, medicine, and agriculture. The university has since expanded with numerous faculties and institutes and has overseen the establishment of additional faculties in the Nile Delta, extending its educational reach beyond its campus. Serving students and the broader community through higher education and research, it covers a broad range of disciplines across humanities, sciences, health, and professional fields. In recent years it has pursued international collaboration, including a 2026 partnership with EMUNI Network to expand academic partnerships and intercultural exchange, and it was recognized in the 2025 UI GreenMetric ranking for campus sustainability.
