Based in Columbia, Missouri, Alfred Friendly Press Partners runs a fellowship program that trains journalists from countries with underdeveloped media systems. Over six months, participants study at the Missouri School of Journalism and gain hands-on experience in leading U.S. newsrooms to practice ethical, innovative reporting. The program draws on mentors and editors with broad experience to improve reporting, writing, investigative and multimedia production skills, while expanding knowledge of journalism ethics and a global perspective on their work at home. It relies on a network of more than 300 alumni, with staff and advisors collaborating with alumni from target countries to tailor training to their media’s needs.
