ALIDE is a regional association that represents development banks in Latin America and the Caribbean. Based in Lima, Peru, the organization seeks to advance social and financial inclusion by strengthening its member institutions so they can offer products and services that better reach underserved groups, including microenterprises, the agricultural sector, environmental and tourism projects, and social infrastructure initiatives. It supports this objective through ongoing information exchange among members, executive training, technical assistance, tailored advisory services, and international technical meetings that address financing for vulnerable sectors. Its network includes more than eighty member entities across the region and in other countries such as Germany, Canada, China, Spain, Portugal, and Sweden. The association operates under an ISO 9001-2008 certified quality management system. It traces its origins to 1968, when the Inter-American Development Bank founded it, and its principal activity has long been the annual General Assembly.
