ALIVE! is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization located in Alexandria, VA. Founded in 1969, ALIVE! is the oldest and largest private safety net in the City of Alexandria dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger. ALIVE! helps people faced with emergency situations or long-term needs become capable of assuming self-reliant roles in the community. ALIVE! serves about 20,000 people each month by providing food, transitional shelter, financial help, and furniture & housewares. ALIVE! is supported by 50 member congregations from a variety of faith traditions, volunteers, community leaders, and civic organizations working together to provide basic needs support to people in the City of Alexandria.
