Our story begins in Cape Town in 1973, when Dr Allan Gray established the business around his contrarian approach to investing. His distinctive philosophy is all about resisting trends, not following the crowd and finding opportunity where nobody else is looking. To this day, the contrarian approach is applied consistently across our business as we take a longer-term, fundamentals-driven approach to investing.
