Allerdale is a hub of international expertise - energy, innovation, technology, engineering and science. The borough is centred on seven main towns: Aspatria, Cockermouth, Keswick, Maryport, Silloth, Wigton and Workington. Allerdale is a great place to live, work and visit. As a Council we are enjoying record satisfaction levels with over 70% of our residents saying they are satisfied or very satisfied with our services. But we are not resting on our laurels. With our business growth plan and housing strategy we are set to bring jobs and investment to the borough, whilst our heritage strategy seeks to enhance and conserve the historical and environmental attractiveness of the area. Other priorities are: tackling inequality through initiatives which target those most in need; and enhancing our towns to be great and sustainable places to live, work and visit. We also aim to improve the health and wellbeing of our residents - and our new £11.5m leisure centre in Workington goes a long way to achieve this.
