Alliance National Insurance Company was formally known as UMI Insurance Company, domiciled in New York State. The original Company was chartered in 1914 in Upstate New York and licensed to insure large utility companies on an association basis. The Company expanded their licenses to the state of Pennsylvania and New Jersey in the middle of the 20th Century and recently operated offices in Parsippany, NJ. In 2006, a Philadelphia-based investment group purchased the assets, liabilities and licenses of UMI.

As of April 2006, the new Company is fully capitalized and licensed to write P&C insurance in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. By the end of 2006, Alliance National expects to have obtained insurance licenses in a minimum of five additional US states. As a specialty underwriter experienced in Alternative Risk Transfer (A.R.T.) insurance programs, Alliance National brings together a strong team of professionals well versed in SIR's, offshore and onshore ART structures, reinsurance treaties, facultative reinsurance and securitization facilities.
