Alzheimer’s affects approximately 5.5 million Americans and is projected to quadruple by 2050.  It is the 6th leading cause of death. Early detection of Alzheimer’s is critical as disease pathology begins to accumulate 10-15 years prior to the cognitive onset of the disease. As a result, early detection of Alzheimer’s pathology offers patients an opportunity to take counteractive measures at a point where the disease is far more treatable. 

Alzeca Biosciences’ mission is to develop best in class imaging technologies for the early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease pathology. Alzeca’s imaging technologies will be applied to offer 1) Improved patient selection and monitoring of Alzheimer’s patients in clinical trials, and 2) Differential Diagnosis of patients with MCI (Mild Cognitive Impairment). To date, Alzeca has been supported by private investors and grants to its academic partners from the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, Alzheimer’s Association, NIH, and Alliance for NanoHealth.  Alzeca’s co-founders have more than 25 years of experience in drug development and the company features several renowned Key Opinion Leaders on the Scientific Advisory Board.
