The Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) is a mid-sized nonprofit based in Falls Church, Virginia, established in 1996 to safeguard South American rainforests and strengthen Indigenous and local communities. It pursues long-term, on-the-ground conservation work across the northeast Amazon (Suriname), the northwest Amazon (Colombia), and the southeast Amazon (Brazil), where it maintains established relationships with governments and local communities. ACT's strategy centers on three intertwined priorities: securing land, enabling sustainable livelihoods, and reinforcing governance and cultural continuity within communities. Over its history, ACT has partnered with more than fifty Indigenous groups and emphasizes operating in a cost-conscious, mission-driven manner. Recent developments include collaborations with the White Feather Foundation (2021) and Chantecaille Beauté (2020), along with the launch of an interactive educational map in 2019.
