Ambercare was founded by Michael and Mary Merrell in 1994, in the small town of Belen, New Mexico. The Merrells were keenly aware that high-quality, compassionate care for the homebound was not available at the time in their community. Mary, a registered nurse, watched as friends and neighbors suffered needlessly due to the lack of adequate care. Michael and Mary knew they could not ignore this, and Ambercare was born. The spirit of providing others in need with nothing less than we would expect for our own families is still the guiding principle that directs every Ambercare professional.
