Founded in 1907, AACR is the world's oldest and largest nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing cancer research and its mission to prevent and cure cancer. It is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and brings together a global network of researchers, clinicians, population scientists, health care professionals, and patient advocates from 130 countries. A substantial share of its membership operates outside the United States, including members in emerging economies. The association advances the field by convening more than 30 conferences and educational workshops each year, with the AACR Annual Meeting as its flagship event; it also publishes ten peer-reviewed journals and a magazine for survivors and their caregivers. It funds meritorious research directly and through collaborations, serves as the Scientific Partner of Stand Up To Cancer providing peer review and grants oversight, and engages with policymakers to highlight the value of cancer research. In 2026, AACR expanded international collaborations, including partnerships with Agilent Technologies and with Taiwan's National Health Research Institutes to host AACR on Campus events.
