The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) is a national cross-disability rights organization based in Washington, DC. It functions as a convener, connector, and catalyst for change, aiming to enhance the political and economic power of people with disabilities. The organization seeks to secure full civil rights for more than 56 million Americans with disabilities by promoting equal opportunity, economic empowerment, independent living, and political participation. AAPD operates within the civic and social sector as a mid-sized nonprofit focused on advocacy, community engagement, and leadership development for people with disabilities. In late 2025, Veronica Villalobos was named chair of the board, and in May 2026 the group hosted its third annual Disability Power on the Hill event, reflecting ongoing policy-focused activity and public engagement.
