The American College of Trial Lawyers is a nonprofit, invitation-only fellowship comprised of leading trial lawyers from the United States and Canada who have demonstrated exceptional standards in advocacy, ethics, integrity, professionalism, and collegiality. Its core aim is to preserve and enhance trial practice, civility, and professionalism while supporting the administration of justice through endorsement of an independent judiciary, the rule of law, trial by jury, and access to justice. The organization is based in Newport Beach, California, and operates with a relatively small staff. The College maintains that the views expressed by its Fellows in the course of representing clients are their own and do not represent the College’s positions, underscoring its nonpartisan stance and commitment to ethics. As a professional association, ACTL serves as a selective network for trial lawyers in the United States and Canada, promoting high standards in practice and a focus on the integrity of the legal process. In December 2024, ACTL launched a new logo and redesigned its website, reflecting ongoing modernization of its public presence.
