American Entertainment Investors, Inc. was founded in 1996 by prominent media investment banker and film financier Joseph N. Cohen. The company’s expertise covers three complementary core businesses:

Financial and Strategic Consulting to Studios and Independent Production and Distribution companies: AEI acts as an Advisor on all aspects of finance, distribution, strategic planning, valuations and acquisitions/divestitures.

Investment Banking services to traditional and new media companies: AEI provides advice on mergers and acquisitions, joint venture structures, corporate and debt restructuring, performs enterprise and library valuations and provides expert advice on complex litigations.

Executive Producing (Financing/Packaging/Distribution) of Film and TV Projects: AEI facilitates independent producers’ access to financing and distribution of film, television and new media projects.
 
AEI is particularly known in Industry circles for its role in incubating prominent independent production and distribution companies, including Alcon Entertainment (My Dog Skip, Insomnia, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, P.S. I Love You, Book of Eli, Dolphin Tale, The Blind Side), River Road Entertainment (Brokeback Mountain, Prairie Home Companion, Into the Wild, Tree of Life) and Exclusive Media Group (The Ides of March, The Woman in Black, End of Watch).

AEI now serves as the Administrator of Portfolio Funding Company, LLC, which owns the bulk of the Weinstein Company Library.
