The American Foreign Service Association is a professional association and labor union serving the U.S. Foreign Service. It represents diplomats and development professionals who advance U.S. interests abroad and defend them when it matters most. In a period of significant workforce strain, AFSA seeks to ensure that members’ service, expertise, and sacrifice are recognized and protected. Based in the United States, the organization operates within the international affairs sector and serves a mid-sized community of professionals. It engages in policy discussions and advocacy on professional matters affecting its members as part of its broader remit. A recent development is AFSA’s involvement in the 17th Triennial Constitutional Convention, with the Resolutions Committee accepting policy proposals ahead of the Las Vegas gathering in July 2025.
