It develops strategies, solutions, and partnerships with a broad network of collaborators to help landowners overcome barriers to creating well-managed forests. It oversees programs including the American Tree Farm System, the Family Forest Carbon Program, and My Sierra Woods. Its work centers on family forest owners and partner organizations, providing support to ensure conservation impact is valued, paid for, and sustained. Based in Washington, District of Columbia, AFF operates at a national scale within the environmental services sector. In 2025, AFF announced a 15-year agreement with Netflix to purchase verified carbon credits through its Fields & Forests program.
