American Friends of the Hebrew University (AFHU) is a national, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization based in New York City that supports the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Founded in 1925 by Felix M. Warburg, AFHU mobilizes American philanthropy to advance the university’s teaching and research missions. It helps recruit and retain faculty, funds teaching and research facilities, and provides scholarships and fellowships across basic and applied disciplines.

Through national and regional programs and events, AFHU broadens awareness of the university’s breadth and achievements and its role in educating leaders. Its work encompasses health, agricultural innovation, brain sciences, and the humanities, reflecting an emphasis on developing Israel’s intellectual capital.
