The American India Foundation (AIF) is a mid-sized nonprofit based in New Delhi, India, focused on improving the lives of India’s underprivileged, with particular attention to women, children, and youth. It pursues work in education, health, and livelihoods to address the multidimensional nature of poverty. Founded more than twenty years ago in response to the Gujarat earthquake, it began as a humanitarian initiative led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Bill Clinton. To date, it has impacted the lives of about 16.51 million people across 35 states and union territories. In January 2024, AIF formed a partnership with Annapoorna Volunteer Group, and in 2023-24 its Light a Life program collaborated with Annapoorna Trust to provide morning nutrition to government school children in Chikkaballapur and Ramanagara districts of Karnataka, as well as in Hyderabad. These recent collaborations illustrate the foundation's engagement with local organizations to support child health and education.
