The American Society of Hypertension is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing hypertension and its consequences. It is the largest organization of hypertension researchers and health care providers in the United States, with a domestic and international membership spanning basic scientists, clinical investigators, physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and others with an interest in hypertension. The society serves as a forum for exchanging information among researchers and clinicians and focuses on translating current research findings into treatment strategies. Based in New York City, New York, the organization was founded in 1985 to provide a hypertension information resource and advocate for hypertensive patients, specialists, and the broader scientific and clinical community. It functions as a collegial networking platform connecting domestic and international researchers translating bench research into clinically useful strategies. It is an ACCME Accredited Education Provider for physicians and other health care providers.
