American Workshop is a veteran-owned, small business that offers a construction industry training center to on-ramp people into construction careers. The Construction Training Center operates as a private trade school. Its certifications are recognized by the construction and building trades industry for entry- and mid-level hiring. Licensed by the State of Minnesota's Officer of Higher Education, the curriculum is also WIOA Certified by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). It's Introduction to Construction and Building Trades (ICBT) program is a 16 day/120-hour program with hands-on introductions to all aspects of the trades (carpentry, plumbing, electricity, HVAC, safety, and first aid). People can explore their interests as they learn. All instruction incorporates customized employability and interpersonal training. Industry and employer feedback ensures the education meets the needs of those who hire our graduates. Graduates benefit from introductions to employers for interviews and employment opportunities. A majority of students are people of color, women and others who have been unemployed/under-employed. American Workshop also offers a variety of youth programs for ages 6 and up, from field trips and Scouts projects, to entire homeschool and “Shop Class” curricula delivered on-site and off-site.
