Andra, created in 1991, is a French public establishment of industrial and commercial character charged with the long-term management of radioactive waste produced in the country. It operates under the oversight of the ministries responsible for energy, research, and the environment, providing the State with expertise to design waste-management strategies and to operate storage facilities that protect people and the environment over time. Based in Châtenay-Malabry in the Île-de-France region, Andra serves as a specialized authority for managing radioactive waste. Its mandate focuses on safeguarding health and ecosystems by developing and operating storage centers for long-lived radioactive waste in France. In September 2023, Andra and Daniel Georges acquired the Montavilla property as part of ongoing support for arts organizations.
