ANSI (American National Standards Institute) is an information services organization based in Washington, DC, with 201-500 employees, located at 1899 L Street Northwest, 11th Floor, Washington, DC 20036, United States. It coordinates the development and use of voluntary consensus standards in the United States and represents the needs and views of U.S. stakeholders in international standardization forums. ANSI oversees the creation, promulgation and use of thousands of international norms and guidelines that affect businesses across many sectors, including acoustical devices, construction equipment, dairy and livestock production, and energy distribution. The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) accredits programs that assess conformance to standards, including ISO 9000 and ISO/IEC 17025 management systems. In 2026 ANSI announced initiatives and activities, including launching the Hydrogen Standards Coordination Initiative and developing a vehicle charging gun interface standard, as well as hosting standards workshops and partnering in events such as World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2026.
