The Arab American Association of New York is a Brooklyn-based nonprofit that supports the Arab immigrant community through a broad set of services intended to ease the transition to life in the United States. Rooted in grassroots organizing, the organization seeks to promote independence, productivity, and stability for families. Its offerings span education, legal and immigration assistance, health and psychosocial support, access to public benefits, and civic engagement. Serving Arab immigrants in New York, the group primarily helps low-income families, including a large share of women and children. Founded in December 2001, AAANY has supported more than 9,000 individuals to date through bilingual case management, ESOL and citizenship prep, GED and employment literacy, youth programming, and related workshops.
